For real, i barely ever like new horror movies, Midsommar was stuck in my head for weeks. A master piece and i hope the future of horror, or as the director would call it, A break up movie. 5:26 I thought this scene was about to be sinned, Im so relieved. OH GOD NOT THE BEES. I thought that the callbacks of white supremacy were too heavy handed and obvious upon watching it only to be blown away by the many white viewers who missed it completely. Everything from inbreeding to eugenics to handwaving about nordic glory to relating divinity to purity like it was so obvious these are philosophies and practices from the nazis but somehow it just didn't ring any bells for people...

Overrated movie. Midsommar was a rip-off of The Wicker Man just as Hereditary was a rip-off of Rosemary's Baby. Ari Aster has zero talent. And before anyone tries to argue the point, how about I make a movie where a woman steals 400,000 then goes to an AirBnb where she is murdered by the reclusive homeowner, who later turns out to have a psychotic delusion that he is really his long-dead twin sister? I'll call it Insanity. And anyone who criticizes me for stealing 90% of that movie plot from another just doesn't understand art and is jealous of my talent.

Light hues such as baby blue, lime green, and sunny yellow are mainly calming colors. But the use of them in a horror film put me out of my comfort zone more than I would have been in a typical slasher film. This might be me just over analyzing too, but I think that the pastels in the more gruesome parts of the movie are meant to confuse the main characters about what they perceive as normal and comforting vs everything else. The cult is attempting to blur the line between “right” and “wrong” and the color scheme proved that even more for me.

Why can't I find the name of the song? It's not even in the soundtrack of the film. Danis boyfriend was the worst honestly since the beginning of the film. I consider it karma what happens to him. I think the entire film is about letting your emotions define you and basically leaving behind everything you have and value for a false sense of happiness. I don't think the main character was happy again, I think she gave herself up to her own emotions and from that she forgot who she was and tried to bury everything from her past at the end by destroying her peers. Through pure destruction of herself she became insane, wiping her mind of all her problems by moving away and finding sanctuary in a new place and destroying her friends. She effectively wiped her mind by destroying her past and learning nothing from it, the environment gave her that opportunity instead of facing her problems, she had gained an echo chamber and new home.

I cant believe you see the boyfriend as shitty here especially when you say its his fault he ends up being burned alive when she decided to do so after she thought he cheated on her WHEN THE DUDE WAS PUT UNDER THE INFLUENCE AND RAPED AGAINST HIS WILL! This shows the cult dont actually care about anyone-they care about their beliefs and agenda-manipulating a person to get the response out of the protagonist that they wanted MAKING HER VICTIM BLAME HER BOYFRIEND FOR BEING MANIPULATED ALL THE SAME! They make the boyfriend pay the price cause they wanted her to get rid of anyone they didnt deem worthy. The last part of this film scared me and pissed me off-scared me to think i could be raped and then have no say for my defence and be killed for the sake of a cults selfish desires-what pisses me off is people forgetting about him being raped OR EVEN BEING OK WITH IT. I guaran-fucking-tee you-switch the roles of boyfriend and girlfriend and everybody would bash this film for victim blaming a woman being drugged and raped for the sake of a man getting closure-yet the girl here is applauded for freeing herself of a man THAT WASNT WILLINGLY CHEATING ON HER.

I never saw anyones feet get lifted I dont know where thats from and why its in the trailer lol it gave me the impression that there would be something paranormal. Because of 'The Good Place' I have a hard time taking seriously any movie that unironically casts William Jackson Harper as a bookish nerd. But it is funny how just yesterday, I was thinking about 'Midsommar' specifically how it would have unfolded had the cult been tricked into targeting someone who is not just already secretly aware of its existence and methods but also planning on destroying it from the inside. It's a pretty bright and relaxing summer movie. The sleep on the couch trope is one of the biggest sins in my book In the movie world most houses have many spare bedrooms. I hate it so much Its a crazy thing to hate What tropes do yall hate the most.

It's surprising to me how you interpreted the film so much differently than I did. This movie felt like an endless rollercoaster downwards. I find the ending so sad actually. Like. in the end she can finally smile but she is stuck in this cult and stuck in all these lies. The people don't really care for her, they care for their agenda. They are kept there with no possibility to leave. Instead of facing her problems she is stuck in this bubble and fed with drugs to feel numb. Truly horrorfying.
